Nicola Newson BSc (Hons) Ost.
Nicki qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1994. After completing a Diploma in Anatomy, Physiology and Massage she decided to have a career change.
Nicki re-trained as an Osteopath at the European School of Osteopathy in Maidstone, from where she graduated with a BSc (Hons) and was awarded 'Best Clinician'. She then stayed on as a faculty member where she assisted with Osteopathic technique classes and end of year exams.
Nicki regularly attends courses to extend and develop her skills. She has qualified to use Myofascial Acupuncture as part of her techniques.
Although Nicki enjoys treating a wide range of ages and conditions, she has a particular interest in sports injuries and children.
Michelle Moynes B Ost (Hons)
Michelle Moynes B Ost (Hons) graduated from the British School of Osteopathy in 2007 having studied an intensive four year degree. She has since had a large amount of experience working with sports injuries to problems during pregnancy; with children to the elderly. Michelle tailors treatment to the specific needs of each patient and works hard to deal with the cause of the problem as well as the symptoms.
Michelle is also a fully qualified cranial osteopath.
Michelle is a keen runner and has a particular interest in treating sports injuries. She has worked with a variety of sports teams and individual athletes, including basketball and rugby teams and a boxing team hopeful for the 2012 Olympics.
Sue Baillie DO
Sue Baillie qualified from the European School of Osteopathy in 1993. Since then she has worked in London, Kent and Sussex.
Since graduating, she has attended a number of post-graduate courses, attaining her Membership of the International College of Applied Kinesiology, UK. She has a post-graduate diploma in osteopathic sports care.
She lives locally to the practice, with her husband and two children, and is involved in the local community at large.
Nicola Preston-Bell BA Dhyp Psych (Uk) GQHR
Nicola Preston Bell is an experienced hypnotherapist specialising in solution-focused psychotherapy. She trained at Uncommon Knowledge, the Brighton based diploma course and is now a supervisor and mentor on this internationally- recognised course.
Before turning her career to hypnotherapy, Nicola was a team leader in the local NHS speech and language therapy service. Most recently she worked with children with varying degrees of autism and learning difficulties, enabling better communicaiton skills and supporting the families. She was also part of a multidisciplinary diagnostic team for autistic spectrum disorder. She still does some private work in this field and has helped many young people, teaching staff and carers to find solutions for them to understand their language difficulties or to adopt strategies to help them cope with everyday life.
Nicola has trained and worked as a facilitator of peer supervision in the NHS and has also worked in the private sector as a senior recruitment consultant for a West End search firm.
Nicola's qualifications are a Diploma in psychotherapy and hypnotherapy and a degree in psychology and linguistics from Reading University. She takes continuing professional development seriously and regularly undergoes further training.
Tracey Cox BABTEC
Tracey is a qualified Holistic Therapist, qualified to City and Guilds Diploma in Holistic Body Therapies from Crawley College. She has also gained an ITEC Qualification in Sports Massage. Tracy also worked part time as a receptionist at the clinic.
Tracey has salon facilities in Crawley, she also works in associated clinics, for a local football team and gives on-site massages in an office environment.
Jane Nayar - Naturopathic nutritionist NHF Adv.Dip Naturopathic nutritionist.
Jane started as a Holistic Therapist 13 years ago practising in Massage, Aromatherapy, Counselling, Reflexology and Reiki.
Her current studies are in naturopathic nutrition and she holds a nutritional supplementation certificate recognised by the National Pharmaceutical Association. She has been advising on natural supplementation and carrying out Food Sensitivity, Allergy and Wellness Testing for the last two years. Jane works with herbs, vitamins, minerals and diet to help restore health or to support the body after illness.
Mark Hire BSc (Hons) MBAcC
Mark trained at the University of Westminster for three years gaining a BSc (Hons) degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine: Acupuncture and is a member of the British Acupuncture Council. He practices Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncture and remedial Swedish massage.
His interest in acupuncture came about through his training in Wing Chun kung fu, a Chinese martial art he started practicing in 1990. He has since taught Wing Chun for several years at a club in Hove, East Sussex.
As well as the Sussex Osteopath and Complementary Health Clinic, Mark works from clinics in Brighton and Haywards Heath. He has also worked in the teaching clinic at the University of Westminster, London.
During his practice, he has worked alongside NHS staff in the Urology department at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton, providing acupuncture analgesia and he also gives talks on acupuncture to health professionals and the general public. He attends post graduate courses on Chinese medicine to increase his understanding and enhance his practice.
Carmel O’Dell SDSHom RSHom
It was Carmel’s own positive experience of homeopathic treatment that set her on a path of learning that culminated in gaining a license to practice from the South Downs School of Homeopathy.
As a registered member of the Society of Homeopaths, the largest professional registering body in the UK and Europe, she abides by their strict Code of Ethics and Practice.
She has a special interest in treating digestive diseases and has helped a number of patients suffering with IBS and IBD. Additionally, she enjoys treating children and runs a parent’s support group, which promotes natural health and immunity.
Her approach is friendly and down-to-earth, encouraging patients to take an active role in their healthcare.
Originally from the north of England she now lives in Hove with her husband and son.
Julie Padgham-Undrell Bsc (Hons), MNIMH
Julie became interested in plants at quite a young age, but it was later, when she saw friends benefit from herbal medicine that her interest in the therapeutic use of plants was sparked. She took an introductory course in herbal medicine, whilst also helping out at weekends at a herbal apothecary in Alfriston, alongside a qualified medical herbalist. This experience led Julie to pursue a career as a medical herbalist and she graduated from the University of Westminster with a BSc (Hons) degree in Herbal Medicine.
With an interest in both the traditional use of medicinal plants and medical science, Julie is keen to keep up to date with the latest scientific research in herbal medicine, much of which is finding support for the traditional use of herbs. She hopes these findings will strengthen the case towards incorporating herbal medicine into the NHS, making it available to everyone.
Julie is a member of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists (NIMH). Established in 1864, it is the U.K's oldest and leading professional body for practising medical herbalists.
She lives in Ringmer and also works part-time in the clinic as a receptionist.
Tracy Goodman BSc (Hons)
Tracy Goodman qualified as a medical herbalist from The College of Phytotherapy in 2004. She is a member of The College of Practitioners of Phytotherapy a professional body that requires its members to participate in ongoing training and research.
Her interest in herbal medicine began whilst travelling in The Pantanal Wetlands of Brazil where she discovered the therapeutic effects of plant based medicines.
She enjoys treating a wide range of conditions and has a special interest in fertility and childrens health issues.
Tracy lives in Hurstpierpoint with her husband and daughter.
Sara Goodwin
Sara trained at the London College of Massage and at the Active Birth Centre. She is a fully qualified massage practitioner and teacher of baby massage with over 13 years of experience in working with people from all walks of life. These include business executives; sports professionals; actors and dancers; pregnant and post-natal women; babies; and people suffering the strains and stresses of everyday life. She is a mother of two andcontinues to be recommended by GP's as a complimentary therapist for their patients
Bex Gould
Rebecca trained at London Contemporary dance school then went on to dance professional with companies for 4 years.
She has been practicing pilates since the age of 15 to manage her own scoliosis and then to prevent injury while dancing professionally. She has been a qualified pilates foundation teacher for 4 years, working with a wide variety of people in group and 1:1 environment. Rebecca uses Pilates as a stable foundation to build exercises around individual needs, allowing you to find your own ideal posture, body awareness and strength.
Rebecca is also qualified level 4 sports massage therapist and a member of the Sports massage association. She qualified in sports massage to support her Pilates work as she wanted to know more about soft tissue and releasing techniques, especially when dealing with someone who had long-standing postural problems, as well as aiding sports performance.
Harriet Loasby PGDip Person-Centred Counselling, BA Psychology (Oxon)
After studying Psychology, Harriet worked as a therapy assistant and researcher in London. She decided to train to be a counsellor after her own experiences as a client in therapy confirmed the profound benefits of therapeutic work. She has since worked at Brighton University, in the charity sector and for the NHS - in primary care and at the Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead.
Harriet is a person-centred counsellor. Her primary commitment is to understanding her clients and fully accepting who they are and what they are experiencing. Harriet is guided by Carl Rogers’ theory that when we are received empathically and without judgement, this experience is internalised and we begin to relate to ourselves differently. It is this which facilitates the natural processes of growth within each of us towards healing and development. Harriet works with sensitivity, care and openness in a confidential, supportive environment. She is a member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and is guided by their code of ethics and practice.
Harriet’s work is supported by her interest in mindfulness which extends beyond the counselling room: she practises yoga and meditation, is involved in developing compassionate communication (NVC), and is a member of the Brighton person-centred community.
Jan Crofton SAC Dip FHPT SAC Dip FHPA

Jan originally trained as a Sports Therapist and Aromatherapist through ITEC in the 1990s. She ran her own business treating injuries at the local rugby club plus Aromatherapy massage and her own Aromatherapy bottling products. With a move to Sussex her work direction changed but the desire to work in the health industry stayed with her and last year she had the opportunity to complete a diploma as a Foot Healthcare Practitioner.
While joining the Sussex Osteopath and Complementary Health Clinic, Jan continues to do private work with home visits and also works from a Health Centre in Haywards Heath with referrals from the GPs.
Jan is sympathetic to her patient’s foot problems, working with a gentle approach to painful conditions, while maintaining a thorough treatment regime. She is delighted to return to the healthcare industry again, saying “it is so rewarding seeing my clients relief when the source of pain is removed so quickly.”
Leasa Langridge , Cert. Person-Centred Counselling; TA 101; Dip. Humanistic Integrative Counselling; MBACP
Leasa is an Integrative Counsellor whose training has encompassed the three counselling models of Person-Centred, Gestalt Therapy and Transactional Analysis. This enables her to choose from a wide range of techniques to help each person as an individual, depending on their needs and circumstances. Her way of working is based very much on the trusting relationship between client and counsellor and on each person’s innate ability to grow and find new resources in order to cope with the difficulties life can bring.
Prior to training as a Counsellor Leasa worked for many years in Further Education, teaching and supporting young people including those with learning difficulties and disabilities. As well as her private practice, she has worked for three years as a volunteer counsellor for the local authority youth service.
"I believe that counselling can be of benefit to all of us at some stage in our lives. It can be your opportunity to gain a greater understanding of yourself, explore possibilities for change in your life and decide on a course of action, in your own time and in your own way.
